Matt Jarrett, the proprietor, has run MDJ Construction for over 15 years, taking over from his Dad’s old firm which Phil Jarrett started in Hastings Old Town in the late 1980s.
As a family firm MDJ has kept and encouraged our workers, as they are skilled, trusted and committed members of a close team. And, as a family firm we only do first rate, quality work because it’s our name going on it.
We work within both the domestic and commercial sectors and also carry put insurance work.
Our Drone
Our drone allows us to examine and photograph roof areas without the need for scaffold. We then can give you precise estimates of how to fix any problem, cheaply and quickly.

Repairs to firewall
“My neighbour and I had bad damp which I believed was coming from our shared firewall. Matt came round promptly and provided a quote to sort the problem out within a couple of days. The cost was very reasonable and we agreed for Matt to do the work although it would not be for a few months. He was able to do the work quicker than scheduled which was great. It turned out that not all planned work wasn’t actually necessary so in the end it was less than the quoted price!! Matt arranged everything, including the scaffolding, was punctual and cleaned up after every day. Would highly recommend him.”

Repairs to the chimney and nearby roof tiles
The chimney breast inside was showing signs of damp. MDJ inspected the roof space and visual check of chimney outside. They identified the problem and fixed it.
